When was the first geothermal power plant built?

The first geothermal power station was built in 1904 in Larderello, Italy, by Prince Piero Conti. The Prince attached a generator to a natural steam-driven engine to produce enough power to illuminate five light bulbs. In 1913 the first geothermal power plant with a capacity of 250 kilowatts was installed.
