Who was the first space tourist?

The first space tourist was Dennis Tito, an American businessman who paid an estimated $20 million to travel to space with a Russian crew to spend time on the International Space Station. He departed aboard the Russian Soyuz spacecraft on April 28, 2001 and returned to Earth on May 6, 2001.
