Why is Pennsylvania crude oil so highly valued? |
The waxy, sweet paraffinic oils found in Pennsylvania first became prominent because high quality lubricating oils and greases could be made from them. Similar grade crude oil is also found in West Virginia, eastern Ohio, and southern New York. Different types of crude oil vary in thickness and color, ranging from a thin, clear oil to a thick, tar-like substance.
