Clarence Darrow, one of the country’s most famous attorneys, defended Eugene Debs in In Re Debs when he was arrested for contempt of court for refusing to obey the court injunction regarding the railway strike. Ironically, Darrow had been an attorney for the railway but changed his allegiance in belief of the unfairness against the striking railroad workers.
