What happened to the defendant in White v. Texas?

After the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated his conviction, prosecutors tried Mr. White at a second trial. During the retrial, the husband of the woman White allegedly raped shot and killed Mr. White. A jury acquitted the husband of any crime.
