Are tornadoes often formed in hurricanes?

It is fairly common for tropical storms and hurricanes to generate tornado activity, and sometimes several tornadoes touch down in a single storm. One of the best examples of this was 1967’s Hurricane Beulah, during which 115 tornadoes were seen. In 2004 Hurricane Frances generated 123 tornadoes, the most ever recorded.
