Well, not really. Concrete sidewalks are not actually the best place to cook an egg (not to mention they aren’t very sanitary). On very hot days, the sidewalk temperature can get to about 145°F (62.8°C), but an egg requires about 158°F (70°C) to cook thoroughly. On the other hand, if you put an egg on blacktop, you are more likely to be successful because the black surface will absorb more heat. Even better is using a metal surface, and people have been known to cook an egg on the hood of a car on a summer’s day.
