Why does my nose run when I’m cold?

When you inhale cold air, it causes the mucous membranes in your nose to constrict and then dilate. This reflexive action encourages the formation of mucous and a drizzly nose. After a while, however, the body adjusts to the colder temperatures and the sniffles should stop.
