Miso Me-So Green

This is a savory green smoothie. Drinking a savory smoothie is an acquired taste, but once you get into it you will quickly recognize that it is incredibly satisfying. When I lived in Napa, I drank this smoothie every day for lunch.


  • 1 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1 large handful cilantro
  • 1 cup spinach
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded, stemmed, and cut into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon miso
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Pinch of cayenne
  • 1 cup water or unsweetened nut milk of choice (page 83), or more if needed
  • Blend all ingredients until smooth.
