How have black religious publications contributed to the black press?

Black churches contributed to the black press by publishing newsletters and magazines; some of these publications, however, have had white ownership. Among the genuinely black religious publications are those from the National Baptist Convention of America, the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., and the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Their publications have made an important contribution to black people, giving them a sense of hope, security, and identity.
