What are the critical values for white blood cell count? |
An individual with a white blood cell count of less than 500 is at high risk for infection. Leukopenia is a condition in which there are low numbers of white blood cells. A white blood cell count greater than 30,000 is an indicator of a major infection or a serious blood disorder such as leukemia. Leukocytosis is a condition in which there are very large numbers of white blood cells.
