What are the digestive functions of the liver?

The liver has more than 500 vital functions. Its major function as a digestive organ is to produce and secrete bile. Other functions of the liver include separating and filtering waste products from nutrients, storing glucose, and producing many chemical substances, such as cholesterol and albumin.
