The Pentateuch

How big was the ark?

The ark was three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high. A cubit is about eighteen inches long. Translating those measurements into United States customary units means that the ark was 450 feet long, seventy-five feet wide, and forty-five feet high, roughly making it the size of the Mississippi Queen steamboat. So the ark was about half the size of a Carnival cruise ship, minus the all-you-can-eat buffet and Broadway-style shows.
