How did people react to Jesus’ entry?

Jesus’ followers spread out their cloaks and palm branches ahead of him. They shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” (NIV, Matthew 21:9) The Bible does not go into detail at this point, but some onlookers were not pleased. In just one week’s time, some of the people (some of whom were Jesus’ followers) handed Jesus over to the authorities to be killed.
