When the two apostles met Jesus on the road to Emmaus, they did not recognize him as Jesus at first. However, Jesus made himself known. He was their Lord and Savior. This episode inspired a practice that continues to this day. Around Easter time, some church groups organize retreats and other special events to encourage believers to meditate more deeply on their relationship with Jesus. Events include prayer labyrinths and organized hikes. There are companies that specialize in renting and selling labyrinth sets, too.
