What does the song “Dem Bones” have to do with the Bible?

The passage about the valley of dry bones inspired African-American songwriter James Weldon Johnson (1871–1938) to write a song. The song is known as “Dem Bones,” and has been recorded by several musicians over the years, including Rosemary Clooney and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

In the December 9, 1965, episode of The Munsters, Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster recorded himself singing “Dem Bones.”
