What is a “palanquin”? |
Song of Solomon 3:9 (NRSV) reads, “King Solomon made himself a palanquin from the wood of Lebanon. He made its posts of silver, its back of gold, its seat of purple; its interior was inlaid with love.” A palanquin is a form of transport, usually for one person. It is box-shaped, and is carried on the shoulders of two or more people by the use of poles.
