Where is Mount Sinai located?

The exact location of the biblical Mount Sinai is a matter of dispute. The location most widely accepted as Mount Sinai is Jebel Musa, which is Arabic for “mountain of Moses.” Located on the Sinai Peninsula, Jebel Musa rises more than 7,000 feet above sea level. At the foot of Jebel Musa sits the 1,500-year-old Monastery of Saint Catherine. Home to monks of the Greek Orthodox Church, the monastery is believed by many to be on the site of the burning bush.
