Who was Daniel?

Daniel was a young man of Jerusalem when he was among those marched into exile in Babylon in 605 B.C.E. He was a man of high standing in Jerusalem, and his intelligence put him in good standing in Babylon. Daniel could interpret dreams and visions. He served as an adviser to kings in Babylon, then in Persia.
