What is the most primitive sauropod known? |
The most primitive sauropod known is the Vulcanodon, an early Jurassic period dinosaur discovered in Zimbabwe, Africa. Unfortunately, the skull and vertebrae (except for the tail and part of the pelvic bone) have not been found. It is thought that the dinosaur walked on all fours and was about 33 feet (10 meters) long; the bones showed both prosauropod-and sauropod-like features.
