401(K)s

What is a 401(k) plan?

A 401(k) plan is a corporate retirement plan that allows an employee to set aside a certain percentage of his income, tax deferred up to a limit, and withdraw from this account when he retires. Under the tax code that created the 401(k) Plan, the company is also allowed to match a certain percentage of an employee’s income up to a limit, and contribute to the account.
