What is Lévi-Strauss’ approach to mythology? |
Claude Lévi-Strauss (1908–2009) is often associated with a point of view known as structuralism. He argues in his 1962 work The Savage Mind and in many other works that the human mind in both its “civilized” and “savage” states has created similar mythic structures everywhere and that, therefore, universal laws can be applied to mythological thought.
