The World MythThe Supreme Being and Great Goddess |
What is the significance of the Great Goddess? |
The Great Goddess has traditionally been associated with Earth itself and is, therefore, altogether accessible to us. If the Supreme Being has been an unknowable reality, Mother Earth speaks to us every day. Whether Devi or Gaia, or the Iroquois woman who falls from the sky, she produces food, takes back our dead, and provides us with a home. She is the mother we take for granted and often betray. The modern Gaia hypothesis speaks scientifically to that betrayal.
