The Insular Celts: Ireland and Wales

Who was Amairgen?

In Irish mythology Amairgen was the Druid filid who, as did the great Indian man-god Krishna, contained his world within himself. It can be said that at least one origin myth of Celtic Ireland involves this poet-warrior-prophet’s “singing” of his inner self into existence when he sets foot in the land that will be Ireland. This song of Amairgen occurs in The Book of Invasions.
