Do people in their twenties manage their 401k portfolios the same way as people in their sixties?

No, they are quite different. People in their twenties have a much longer view of the market, and have many years to make great financial moves, and mistakes as well. People in their sixties tend to have a shorter investment horizon, and wish to have more security and less risk.
