Protecting Your Privacy on the Internet

How is my privacy protected when using social networking sites, like Facebook or Twitter?

Your privacy is barely protected. These sites make it very difficult for a novice user to find the settings that allow users to hide their profiles from the public web. This means that if you leave all of the settings alone, your initial profile is readily visible to anyone anywhere in the world. If you use your real name, or maiden name if you are or were married, you are telling the world, “Here is my maiden name.” And maiden names are often used as security questions for credit cards and banks. So go into the settings and hide your profile from being displayed on the public web.
