Woodrow Wilson

Early Life and Family

Did he marry?

Yes, Wilson had two marriages. In 1885, he married Ellen Louise Axson in Savannah, Georgia. She passed away while he was president in August 1914. Then, on December 18, 1915, Wilson—while president—married widower Edith Bolling Galt. He was fifty-eight and she was forty-three. Some in the press had a field day with this second marriage. She outlived Wilson by nearly forty years, passing away in 1961.
