Jimmy Carter

Post Presidency

For his humanitarian efforts what award named after a former president did Carter win?

In 1998 Carter won the Hoover Medal, named after President Herbert Hoover, who did great humanitarian and relief work during the time of World War I and beyond. Carter won for “promoting peace and goodwill among peoples and nations; resolving conflict, promoting democracy and protecting human rights; advancing health in the developing world; and attacking social problems in the United States.” Hoover, Eisenhower, and Carter are the only presidents to win this award.
