In what city did Grover choose to lay down his roots?

Grover decided to move west. First, he stopped off in Buffalo to visit his favorite uncle Lewis F. Allen, a wealthy farmer. His uncle hired Grover as a clerk and an editor. Allen enlisted his nephew to help him finish a short book he was writing entitled Short-Horn Herd Book. His uncle introduced him to several prominent lawyers. Grover then began studying law at Rogers, Bowen, and Rogers.
