Early Career

What did Truman do after graduating from high school?

He initially planned to go to college, but his father suffered financial loss and Truman went to work at a variety of jobs to help the family. He worked as a timekeeper for a railroad, a mailroom clerk, a bank clerk, and a bookkeeper. He then returned to his family’s home near Grandview, Missouri, to help run the farm.
