Theodore Roosevelt Sr. worked some in the family business of manufacturing plate glass. Theodore Sr.’s father, Cornelius, had made a fortune in real estate in Manhattan as well. This gave Theodore Sr. the opportunity to devote his energies to different charities. He did much philanthropic work with hospitals and museums.
