Carter has taken an active and leading role in Habitat for Humanity, a group that helps provide housing for low-income people. He became involved in the organization in 1984 and hosts an annual event that raises money for the worthy causes of the group.

The 1978 Camp David Accords were the crowning achievement of President Carter’s career. He met with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat (shown here at left) and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin to hash out a successful peace agreement between the two nations.
