What was Ford’s relationship with his former rival Jimmy Carter?

Ford maintained a friendly relationship with Carter in later years. In 2001, he and Carter were honorary co-chairs of the National Commission on Federal Election Reform. The group held four public hearings and released a report in July 2001.
