What was Tyler’s next political position after failing to return to the Senate?

The Whig Party chose Tyler, who was popular politically in some segments of the South, as a running mate for William Henry Harrison. The two ran under the immortalized campaign slogan “Tippecanoe and Tyler Too.” When Harrison defeated incumbent Martin Van Buren for the presidency, John Tyler became vice president.
