Who invented Velcro?

The inspiration for Velcro came about when Swiss engineer George deMaestral (1907–1990) took a closer look at those annoying cockleburs that stick so well to things like dog fur and your favorite pair of socks. He recreated what he discovered into a new type of fastener.
