Why can’t metal objects be placed in a microwave? |
Metal objects should not be used in a microwave (except as directed by the manufacturer) because the microwaves are reflected off these materials and do not allow the heat to penetrate the food. The oven could be damaged by an arc between the metal utensils and the cavity interior or door assembly if the cooking load is not large enough to absorb the microwave energy.
