Do people in their twenties manage their 401(k) portfolios the same way as people in their sixties?

People in their twenties manage their 401(k) portfolios quite differently than people in their sixties. Younger people have a much longer view of the market, and have many years in which to make both great financial moves and mistakes. People in their sixties tend to have a shorter investment horizon, and desire more security and less risk.
