What were his next jobs in the legal field?

In 1857, Harrison won election as the city attorney for Indianapolis. The next year he became an official in the local Republican Party. In 1860, Harrison ran for the position of reporter of the Indiana Supreme Court. The reporter would compile the court’s judicial opinions and oversee their publication into legal books. He defeated older Democratic attorney Michael Kerr to win the position.
