Who appointed Harrison to his first political position?

President John Adams appointed Harrison to the position of secretary of the Northwest Territory. He also acted as a delegate from the area to Congress. While he couldn’t vote, he could attend sessions of Congress and advise representatives on different matters. He also could introduce measures for consideration.
